Calnex Zooming in on Growth

A West Lothian provider of test and measurement systems for the global telecom industry is pushing ahead with growth plans despte the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Calnex Solutions, which is headquartered in Linlithgow with additional locations in Northern Ireland and California, said it intended to move forward with its growth and hiring plans.

The group currently employs 90 people worldwide. It operates an office in Belfast following its acquisition of JAR Technologies in March 2018. Chief Executive Tommy Cook said: "We are a fairly young company but we have come a long way in 14 years. From starting the company in 2006, we grew the staff to 22 by 2011, 75 in 2016 and 90 today.

"To date, we have delivered products to more than 600 customer sites in 68 countries, helping our customers keep pace with the continual changes in the telecommunications industry."

The firm is looking to expand its capabilities through the addition of hardware and software design engineers, including four in Scotland, whose expertise will support and help acceleratethe delivery of new products to market.

Cook added: "The pandemic has taught us that we need to be even more innovative and flexible in the way we work. We will incorporate lessons learned into our working practises once lockdown is lifted."
